When physics grad student Fielding Monroe and skirt-chaser and football player Mick Colman become college housemates, they’re both in for a whole new education. Mick looks out for the absent-minded genius, and he helps Fielding clean up his appearance and discover all the silly pleasures his strict upbringing as a child prodigy denied him. They become best friends.

It’s all well and good until they run into a cheerleader who calls Mick the ‘best kisser on campus.’ Fielding has never been kissed, and he decides Mick and only Mick can teach him how it’s done. After all, the physics department’s Christmas party is coming up with its dreaded mistletoe. Fielding wants to impress his peers and look cool for once in his life. The thing about Fielding is, once he locks onto an idea, it’s almost impossible to get him to change his mind. And he just doesn't understand why his straight best friend would have a problem providing a little demonstration.

Mick knows kissing is a dangerous game. If he gives in, it would take a miracle for the thing not to turn into a disaster. Then again, if the kissing lessons get out of hand they can always blame it on the mistletoe.

This short book follows the GFY romance between a former college football player and his socially-awkward genius housemate.

Mick is tired of the girl merry-go-round and meathead football teammates mucking up his studying. He's invested in getting his degree in fitness and nutrition at Cornell, and decides quitting the team and finding an off-campus house will be his best chance at keeping his eyes on the prize. It means working two-jobs and having a housemate (or two) but that's the price of success.

Fielding is a 19 y/o physics prodigy. Actually he's a prodigy at everything, except, perhaps, taking care of his physical, social or emotional needs. He spent his life homeschooled, but was eager to GO to grad school--that's right, he's getting his PhD at 19. Fielding has a smother-mother and an absentee dad and decides living with Mick is absolutely the best idea he's had yet. With dad's money to burn he takes both spare bedrooms in Mick's rental house, with the added bonus that Mick will cook for them if Fielding's daddy buys the groceries.

Over the course of a semester of living together, Mick and Fielding become very close friends. Mick has helped Fielding break out of his cloistered shell--teaching him to exercise, eat healthy foods, and update his wardrobe. They spend hours watching the movies Fielding had never had access to, and discussing any and everything imaginable in their spare time.

And that includes Fielding's fears over an obnoxious girl in his physics classes. According to Fielding she's a "virgin killer" and she's determined to kiss Fielding under the mistletoe at the department Christmas party. Thing is, Fielding's never kissed anyone. And he's mortified that he'll be exposed as a novice in front of all his professors and peers, so he begs Mick to teach him how to kiss.

And, Mick freaks out.

As Mick soon learns, his fear of being "gay" is pretty much unfounded. Because, when it comes to Fielding, he's found someone he can't live without. The story is told from Mick POV, and he's about as conflicted as a 20 y/o het male can be--when it comes to recognizing an unwelcome attraction to another male. It's a short, sweet read with plenty of feels and a great HEA resolution.

My Review
What a sweet, fun little Christmas novella. I loved every moment of reading it!

Fielding is a lot awkward. At 19, he's in the Physics grad program and moving away from home for the first time. He's brilliant mentally, but socially he needs some help. Mick is just the opposite. He's spent the last two years of college partying hard as part of the football team and getting laid. But now he wants to refocus on his school which is going to kick his butt if he doesn't buckle down this semester. Fielding is the perfect roommate for that.

They quickly become friends and Mick quickly takes Fielding under his wing to teach him all that he's missed out on life so far. When Fielding hears how good of a kisser Mick supposedly is, he thinks that Mick should step up and help him here too. Fielding doesn't understand why it's such a big deal. For Mick, it's a big deal because it stirs up feelings about Fielding that he just isn't comfortable confronting yet. Besides, they're friends and he sure doesn't want to screw that up by being Fielding's first kiss...something that should mean something...at least for the memories.

Like I said, this book is fun. Fielding is the ultimate nerd, especially at first, but Mick has been helping him out, working him out and suddenly Fielding is getting a lot hotter. These guys are friends and that's an unlikely thing at first since they have so little in common, but they bond pretty quickly. Then when things step up, they get hot pretty quickly. I liked how the heat factor immediately exploded when the two kissed. It wasn't a slow build-up...it was spontaneous combustion.

It was a good book. Perfect for the holidays because it was short and sweet and romantic and filled with little mistletoe moments...which provide just the perfect excuse.
- - Absolutely adorable and heartwarming !! - - Mick, 22, nutrition student, is working two jobs, and looking for roommates for his apartment. Dorm living wasn't for him, too noisy, and too much partying. He's spending the day screening people when a lady walks in and starts asking questions. He tries to tell her the answers and find a polite way to tell her it's for a male, then she says it's for her son, and rents both rooms, so he'll have a study place. Fielding, 20, is like a rocket scientist, a young genius, and pretty much a nerd, but he's renting both rooms, so they'll get the quiet they need to study. Mick takes the sweet nerd under his wing, teaches him normal stuff, they cook together, work out, watch movies, and he helps Fielding get a taste of life away from books. Fielding wants to learn to kiss, and wants Mick to teach him. This is not on Mick's list of things that sound like a good idea. This is funny, sweet, heartwarming, and totally enjoyable to read. The guys have a snowball fight, decorate for Christmas, and then the kiss....wow! After avoiding each other for a week after the sizzling kiss, they try again, but neither wants to stop. They are spectacular together, yummy sexiness, but shy the next day, and avoid each other for a week. Fielding's Dad shows up and talks with Mick.
You'll love the turn of events. Awesome characters, and a great story !
I recommend it ! ENJOY !!! )
